Sofia Starcevic

Born in Vienna in 2006, Sofia attended the Lycée Français de Vienne, where she developed her creative sensibility from an early age. Painting has been a constant presence in her life since childhood, gradually evolving into a conscious and independent form of artistic expression.

At the core of her work lies an exploration of emotion and perception. Inspired by the idea that the eyes are the “gateway to the soul,” Sofia deliberately chooses to obscure them. In her paintings, the eyes of her figures are veiled with a soft, flowing fabric, removing the viewer’s direct point of connection and opening space for interpretation.

Her work invites the viewer not only to see, but to feel. By concealing what is traditionally considered the most expressive feature, she shifts the focus toward the entirety of the image, posture, color, and atmosphere. This creates an open, subjective experience, allowing each viewer to project their own emotions and
meanings onto the work
